Meet Amanda E. Thompson, MSW, LCSW, RYT
Trauma Informed Therapist & Yoga Teacher
Hi! My name is Amanda Thompson. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in both Northern Virginia and DC. I am also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT), and an Astrologer, through professional training and mentorship with Astrologer Natha Campanella.
After many years of working through my own trauma, perfectionism, and anxiety, through exploration of multiple types of modalities, I feel it is so incredibly important to have a multi-stop shop for your own wellness and healing goals!
It is HARD work to break the cycles from our previous generations, and stand in our own power today to achieve a sense of self empowerment and peace. I am here to guide, support, encourage, and challenge you to find the very best version of yourself that you can be.

Testimonials
“Working with Amanda has been a deeply transformative experience. She provides a space of acceptance and understanding. Making the choice to seek help can be intimidating, especially given the stereotype of stoic therapists who lay back and listen with little guidance. What I really appreciate about Amanda is how easy-going and conversational she is. She provides a comfortable, encouraging, and regulated space to open up and work through wounds. I always feel like I’m able to show up completely as myself. And I appreciate that she seems to comfortably show up as herself — it’s like talking to an old friend! She’s open-minded to looking at a variety of therapeutic resources, including spiritual practice if desired. Since working with Amanda, I’ve gained the tools and confidence to unlearn unhelpful patterns, grow into my core self, and restructure my life to align with who I really want to be. I highly recommend her!”
“I put off therapy for anxiety and my mental health struggles for many years, intimidated by the thought of opening up to someone and scared of what I might learn about myself. In the midst of the pandemic and a serious health diagnosis, I found Amanda. From our first appointment, I was immediately comfortable talking to Amanda, sharing my struggles and listening to her feedback. To me, each session feels like having a conversation with a friend, but one who is an experienced and compassionate therapist and is solely focused on listening and providing input to improve my wellbeing. Amanda seems to always know what I need, whether that is an explanation of physiological reasons why I am feeling a certain way or encouragement to reassess my approach to a situation or affirmation that I deserve grace and self-compassion in dealing with the struggles of life. My overall mental health has greatly benefitted from having her as a therapist. I would encourage everyone to consider therapy and to reach out to Amanda to see if she is a good fit for them too. I’m forever grateful to have found her.”
“Amanda highlighted the power of the mind-body connection for me. She has given me so many tools that I can put in practice that truly help me manage stressful situations. She has introduced me to breathing techniques, books, hands-on activities, and more that I can use outside of therapy and that have enabled me to live a healthier life. She’s even invited me to yoga classes! I didn’t know there were so many practices/resources out there that I could take advantage of to help manage my anxiety until I met her.Amanda always has my back! We can talk about anything in a judge-free zone. She cares about me and feels like a friend while maintaining professionalism. She’s taught me about tools and concepts that have made me feel more confident and have made my anxiety more manageable.”
